Recently divorced man fatally shoots MI police officer

Divorce can be a difficult process to go through for all parties involved. Divorce means the end of a relationship, the end of a family unit, and the end of an important time in the lives of a couple. Divorce can be stressful, emotionally challenging and exasperating. People who are going through a divorce have a lot to handle with respect to family, property and whatever else goes along with the process. Sometimes the stress that comes with getting a divorce is too much and a person handles that stress in the wrong way.

In West Bloomfield, Michigan a man who had recently gone through a divorce had a stand-off with the police and reportedly took the life of a police officer. The police officer was a 12-year veteran of the police force. The man, following his divorce, had just lost ownership of his home which has a market value of over $500,000. Along with the marital problems, the man was facing a civil lawsuit that was filed by the U.S. Department of Labor regarding improper government employee benefits he allegedly received.

There is nothing to say that divorce drove this man to act out in such a violent manner. Certainly, most people that are going through a divorce don't feel the need to approach the situation with such extreme results. However, going through a divorce and potentially losing what one once had can be traumatic and scary for some.

Divorce can be a difficult process and the outcomes are often initially unknown. With that being said, although divorce can lead to stress, it can also lead to a brighter future for most. Divorce is a complex process and a lot of emotions are involved and it can be hard to be detached from the situation. Knowing and protecting the rights of the parties involved in a divorce proceeding and understanding the legal process is important to ensure a favorable outcome and a happier future for all involved.
