Length of marriage has no bearing on divorce

Couples who have been married for a long time still can get divorced. No matter the length of time that a couple has been together, this amount of time cannot stave off a divorce if the married couple is not doing well. Marriage is difficult and takes a lot of work. The longer that you have been married and if children are involved, the more difficult marriage becomes. With greater responsibility in a marriage, come greater burdens and most likely more stressful situations. That is not to say that all marriages end in divorce, but divorce is a very real outcome for those who are not happy in the marriage.

Divorce can happen to anyone no matter race, ethnicity or social status. A Def Leppard guitarist has filed for divorce from his wife. After 25 years of marriage, Vivian Campbell is getting a divorce. The reason cited for the divorce is irreconcilable differences. Moreover, Mr. Campbell is requesting that the court not require him to pay spousal support. The couple has two children together.

In cases of divorce, each state abides by divorce statutes to govern what is to happen legally during a divorce. Michigan, like other states, has certain requirements that must be met before a divorce can be granted. Whether the divorce is contested or uncontested will determine the way the courts proceed in the divorce. Issues involving spousal support, child support, child custody, visitation, parental relocation and parenting time all need to be addressed during a divorce. These are not the only issues that are on the table during a divorce but they may be some of the most important.

Deciding to get a divorce is not an easy decision to make and may be even more difficult to follow through with. However, sometimes divorce is the only answer in marital situations where neither party wants to continue with the relationship.
