Studies indicate that many married couples aren’t safe from divorce. This is probably because marriage is hard and it takes a lot of work to make it last. In saying that, some people who do get married don’t realize just how much effort and nurturing a marriage needs. With that being the case, a lot of marriages unfortunately end in divorce because of a lack of understanding of all of the complexities that are involved with a marriage.
For instance, world-renowned musician David Guetta and his wife of 20 years divorced this past year. Even after renewing their wedding vows in 2012, that was not enough to keep the couple together. They did not publicize their reasons for the divorce as they are opting to keep that information private. Guetta and his ex-wife have two children together.
In divorces such as the one discussed above, many times a lot of money is involved. These are known as “high asset” divorces because of the wealth of one or both of the parties involved. High asset divorces are usually extremely complex, especially if the divorce is contested. Oftentimes there has to be an accounting of all of the marital finances and property, as well as an asset evaluation. Because high asset divorces lend themselves to litigation, having sound financial records is extremely important and can be very helpful throughout the course of the divorce proceedings.
A lasing marriage is hard to come by. That is not to say that it is an impossibility, but if someone has to go through a divorce, whether it is a high asset divorce or not, preparedness is the key.
