Personal injury: Truck crashes through bank lobby

| Oct 9, 2018 | Personal Injury |

Most people in Michigan understand that they risk being injured in a wreck when they are behind the wheel of a vehicle. Few, if any, expect to be hit by a car and suffer a personal injury while standing inside of their bank. Unfortunately, this exact situation played out recently, sending several people to the hospital.

The wreck occurred somewhere around 3:30 p.m., when a pickup truck reportedly left the roadway and traveled into the parking lot of a Chase Bank. The driver then struck a parked van and kept going, crashing into the bank’s lobby and then out the other side of the building, where it finally stopped after hitting a pole. Three people were in the parked van at the time of the wreck, all of whom suffered injuries and had to be transported to the hospital.

It is unclear how many people inside of the bank were injured, if any. However, there were reports of glass spraying over customers, and the truck apparently narrowly missed striking at least one customer and the bank’s manager. Police are still investigating the crash, but have yet to release any information about contributing factors or charges that the driver may face.

Even if injured victims were inside of a building or a parked vehicle when they were hurt, they can still pursue compensation from a negligent driver. Personal injury claims are often the best option for Michigan victims. When successful, these claims provide invaluable compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and more.
